Wednesday 16th February 2011

In this lesson, we watched three or four short films created by students from AFTRS. We studied the techniques they used in their films such as creating a mood/pace for a production. You do this through the camera (angles and shots), music, editing and lighting. Finding an objective for your production. Where you would like your audience positioned. Different techniques of editing and camera work....

Afterwards we split up into groups and each group got a camera. Our assignment was to film certain angles of an object without giving away what the actual thing was. Our group chose the television in our classroom, so we all had turns at filming certain shots of angles, then pan shots of the border of the t.v screen, etc etc.

We finished the lesson off with all of us rewinding and ejecting our tapes out of the camera, and handing them over to Rob.

We labelled ours "The Thing".
